When is fargo set

Murder, greed, and betrayal plague the people of these towns, leaving behind a trail of crime in their wake. Fargo season 4 deviated from the small-town feel to move on to the Kansas City mafia. After the two families swap children in the traditional attempt at peace, the plan goes horribly wrong, and the fight for power leaves the city plagued with death.

Noah Hawley has teased that he wants to end the anthology with Fargo season 5. Currently, the series hasn't been renewed for a fifth season, but Hawley seems confident in its existence. When asked if season 5 is in the works during an interview with Vanity Fair , Hawley says that he thinks so, but that he doesn't "have it" quite yet.

Season 1 was gripping. Beginning sentences but not finishing them, assuming the listener can fill in the blanks. IRL people usually opt to awkwardly finish the sentence. Two people collaboratively telling a story, where they trade off lines, not missing a beat. It's a telltale sign of practicing lines, and feels very artificial. Arriving home and talking to your partner before you actually see them. Fargo's heavy use of tropes like these ruin its credibility.
