When should i draft idp players

Some people draft IDP players on name recognition alone. Others draft players because they are regarded as the best at their particular position. Not every star player is a star in a fantasy scoring system.

Often we see players that the average fan knows little to nothing about constantly scoring high numbers every week. One reason may be the player is on a bad or losing team and they see the field more than a defensive player from a playoff caliber team.

Why did Aikman go so high? When it came to fantasy football, Aikman was not a top 10 quarterback. With Emmitt Smith getting the bulk of the offensive workload in Dallas it limited the amount of times Aikman needed to throw and Emmitt was a touchdown machine. In your fantasy league Aikman should have been nothing more than a reliable reserve or spot starter when he had a favorable matchup.

Provided that your IDP league starts two or more defensive linemen, the keyword at that position is scarcity.

In a team league that starts a pair of D-linemen, the number of dependable weekly starters will run out before the starting slots in your IDP league do. That positional scarcity makes it all the more important that teams draft aggressively on the defensive line. Acquire a pair of linemen from the top or so and you can gain a substantial advantage over the competition.

Depending on Bosa or any of the rookie linemen as a weekly starter in is asking to be disappointed. In the vast majority of IDP leagues, linebackers are the lifeblood of a strong defensive roster.

Not only does their ability to pile up tackles make them the highest-scoring defensive players, but it also makes them the most consistent. As such, having a solid cadre of dependable options at the position is key to your IDP draft strategy.

The depth at linebacker is better than along the defensive line, and there should be some values available later in drafts. That simply means a linebacker who remains on the field in passing sub-packages.

Their production tends to fluctuate wildly from week to week—depending on whether they notch a sack in a given game. The first DL should appear by the sixth round, and DL2s should be drafted from the tenth round onwards.

This change has little impact on LBs but naturally has a big effect on the other positions. Aaron Donald should be the first to go off the board around the fifth round as the best DT available. After that, you can wait until the last couple of rounds. Safeties come off the board steadily from the sixth round, about one a round. Finally, CB is the position you should draft last, only before kickers. Of course, every league is different, but this summary should give you an outline of general IDP draft strategy.
